Johnsonville Announces $30,000 Video Contest & Sweepstakes

Johnsonville Brats Logo You may remember in May last year we told you about the Johnsonville “Create Your Own ‘Ville” Campaign. Well, the good folks that make probably the most well known brats on the market are at it again. This latest contest from Johnsonville is right up the tailgaters alley. It’s called ‘Share Your Ville’ and up to $30,000 in combined cash and cool grilling and camping prizes up for grabs..

The basics of this contest is that Johnsonville wants you to produce a short video sharing your experiences with Johnsonville brats. It could be sharing a childhood memory of eating brats with your dad while tailgating the coldest game in recent memory or it could be having someone shoot a video of you grilling and sharing your brats with friends. Creativity and uniqueness will rule the day when it comes to picking a winner. In all honesty, the true heart and soul of tailgating is sharing good food, good drink and good times with your tailgate party guests and tailgating neighbors. Obviously a “Share your Ville” video contest is right in the tailgater’s wheelhouse.

Johnsonville Tailgateville advertismentThe contest is broken down into two classes: Amateur and Professional. When they say professional, they do not mean you need to be James Cameron or George Lucas. By Professional they mean you will be editing your video and will not be submitting just raw footage you shot. So with that said, there are also four different categories each class of video submitters can enter. The four categories are: Friendsville, Familyville, Eventville and Locationville. (I am assuming that the majority of you out there will probably be submitting into the Eventville category if you are going after a tailgating themed video.)

So now that you know what classes and categories there are, let’s tell you what you can win… There will be four Amateur winners, one in each of the four categories, that will split over $11,000 in prizes. Each Amateur winner will take home almost $2,800 in prizes including grilling and camping gear from Coleman, gift cards from Gander Mountain, a collection OneZip, Ultra Flex and EZ Foil products from Hefty and coupons for free Johnsonville sausage. There will be one overall Professional winner who will receive $10,000 in cash. On top of that, the first 50 entries overall each get a coupon for free Johnsonville sausages. So if you hurry, no matter how awful your video may be, if you are one of the first 50 to submit one, you could get some free stuff no matter what.

Before you grab your video camera and start shooting, keep in mind Amateur class videos should be two minutes or less and Professional videos must be exactly fifteen-seconds (0:15) or thirty-seconds (0:30) in length. (I guess they might be able use the videos as a commercial one day?) The contest is already open and ends on July 20, 2010.
