Grill-O-Sheet

As tailgaters we love grilling. No matter if you are at home or in the parking lot, there is just something special about preparing meals on the open flame. But because grilling usually involves grill grates, some foods are typically left off for fear of sticking or falling through. Fish, veggies and other delicate foods tend to scare off tailgaters from grilling them. I’ve seen tailgaters cook these items on aluminum foil placed directly on the grill rods but when it comes time to turn them, the foil normally tears because it is so flimsy. I was recently sent a sample of the Grill-O-Sheet, a reusable grill topper made of durable aluminum, designed to prevent delicate foods and lean meats from sticking or falling through the grill grates.

As you can see in the above photo, the Grill-O-Sheet is laid right on top of your existing grill grates and the holes allow for the heat and flame to get to your food. Because it is made out of aluminum, it is flexible but because it is about four times the thickness of aluminum foil it is sturdy and durable. And because it is made out of aluminum, it is recyclable too for all you “green” tailgaters out there. The good thing is you won’t have to recycle it after a single use. You can wash the Grill-O-Sheet by hand or place it in the dishwasher. Just make sure to let it cool down first before handling.

I was sent two samples of the Grill-O-Sheet to test out on my own. I received the regular Grill-O-Sheet which fits your standard rectangle shaped BBQ grills. I also tested the Grill-O-Sheet Jr. which is smaller but made to fit on portable tailgating grills. No matter what size you get, you can always cut the sheet to size using regular scissors to make it fit on your grill. If you have a round grill, (I used the Bubba Keg Grill to test this aspect) you can either use the Grill-O-Sheet Jr or if you want “wall-to-wall” coverage, just cut the regular size into a circle. I also found that you can wrap fish with the Grill-O-Sheet making a sleeve for the fish in order to grill it. Just simply turn over the pocket that holds the fish and you still get grilled fish without “baking” it on the grill had you wrapped it in regular kitchen foil.

The Grill-O-Sheet is available in a number of retailers including Whole Foods, Lowe’s, Mill’s Fleet Farm and of course Amazon. For a complete list of retailers where you can buy the Grill-O-Sheet, visit their listing of retailers. Prices may vary depending on the retailer but a quick look at Amazon show a package of 10 Grill-O-Sheets is priced at $19.99.
