#MyFootballFantasy Turkey Bowl

You may recall that last year I worked in conjunction with Visa to help promote their #MakeItEpic campaign in advance of the Super Bowl. I am glad to announce that Visa has again tabbed TailgatingIdeas.com as an influential blog to help promote their #MyFootballFantasy Contest which will fulfill the fantasies of select football fans. I am blogging on behalf of the Visa #MyFootballFantasy Campaign and receive compensation for my time, but the thoughts, opinions, words and promotions are all mine and not that of Visa.

Because Visa will be selecting those fantasies of football fans and making them a reality, I thought it would be fun to submit my own. You can read my first fantasy, which was more of a Tailgating Fantasy, but still had lots of football included. Because that fantasy had some pretty unrealistic things included in it like making it rain bacon, I doubt Visa will be able to make that one come true. So that got me to thinking… “What would be #myfootballfantasy that if chosen by the folks at Visa, could actually be granted?”. Here is what I came up with… And just in time for Thanksgiving too.

Muddy Turkey Bowl

In my younger years, on Thanksgiving morning, a group of my friends and I would get together at a local school yard and play a game of football. This tradition is quite popular around the country and there are numerous “Turkey Bowls” played on Thanksgiving mornings. In my younger years our Turkey Bowl was a game of tackle without any pads but now that I am in my 40’s, I am thinking a game of two-hand touch or flag would be better for everyone involved. Being older and wiser means we would want to avoid a trip to the ER or being too sore to go to work on Monday. That being said, here is my football fantasy.

Get the old group of guys together but introduce two new additions. My football fantasy would be to have Drew Brees be the quarterback on my team for the Turkey Bowl and Jim Harbaugh calling the plays. With that kind of firepower on my Turkey Bowl team, there is no way we can lose. And once the game was over, invite both the coach, the QB and everyone who played in the game to the parking lot for a spectacular post-game tailgate complete with a fried turkey and all the Thanksgiving Day trimmings.
