prlog.org: Transaction between Freedom Grill, Inc. and Exosphere Aircraft is being rescinded
In the release, both companies cite contractual agreements not being achieved as to the main reason why the merger was rescinded. With the partnership dissolved, both companies will operate as separate entities exactly as they were prior to the agreement.
What this holds for the future of Freedom Grill is uncertain. The licensing for their flagship product, the Freedom Grill FG-50, was sold to Jarden/Sunbeam the parent company of Margaritaville. Margaritaville then changed the colors and theme of the FG-50 model to the greenish color and island style grill that has been on the market for over a year now. Margaritaville has not placed an emphasis on pushing the Margaritaville Tailgating Grill in 2010 like they did in 2009 and signs are pointing that once last year’s grills are completely sold out, they may not order another run of them. That means the FG-50 and the Margaritaville Tailgating Grill could become extinct as early as this year.
So what does that mean for the future of a tailgate grill from the rear of your vehicle? Nobody knows. What is for certain is that we still have a limited quantity of classic Freedom Grill FG-50s still in the original packaging available for sale. But a word of warning, once these are sold out, chances are you will not be able to buy them in the original gray and black colors. If that happens you will then need to buy a Margaritaville Tailgating Grill. As we mentioned earlier, those models may soon become extinct as well.
We’d like to think we have a pretty good grasp on what is going on within the tailgating world. This is not a hard sell or a call to action. Just a word of warning of what might be on the horizon. And if this does unfortunately come to fruition, please don’t email us asking us why you didn’t get any heads up or fair warning this might be happening.
