Don't Just Tailgate, Tailgate Better!

Virginia Tech Custom Tailgate Grill

Posted by Dave On February - 18 - 2010

I have to give it up to you readers out there. A few days ago I shared a photo of a University of  Oregon tailgating grill a reader had emailed in to me. I asked for those of you who have also painted up your grills to send in photos so they could be shared with the rest of tailgate nation. Ask and ye shall receive is what I always say. Here is an email and accompanying photos I received yesterday.

I love my grill! I’m a paramedic in Blacksburg and we use the grill all the time at the office. It’s always nice to have a grill at the ready to use whenever you might need it! I figure it’s time to show it off to the rest of world so I’m sending you some pics. Love the site by the way.

DJ

So here are the photos of this guy’s Virginia Tech tailgating grill. Nice work DJ! I’d say the Hokies are represented well here.

Have you yourself painted one or seen a Margaritaville/Freedom Grill painted in team colors? Did you snap a photo? We want to see it. Email photos to Dave [at] tailgatingideas dot com.

Posted by Dave On August - 31 - 2008

news_wrap.jpgThis weekend marked the official opening of tailgating season. Although you can tailgate year round depending on your part of the country and the weather, we all know that football season is the official start of tailgating season. College football officially started yesterday and the NFL season kicks off next weekend. For me, the football season (college or pro) could not have come sooner. So to get you fired up for the official start of tailgating season, here a few links from the world of tailgating that you may have missed.

Welcome Our Newest Contributor: Nick Jancaitis

Posted by Dave On August - 21 - 2008

nick_jancaitis.jpgYou may remember a few weeks ago I had the opportunity to introduce you to Rob Smyth. Now that you have met Rob I want you to meet Nick Jancaitis. Nick is the newest addition to the Tailgating Ideas team and will be writing tailgating blogs whenever the mood strikes him. Here is Nick’s quick bio you can also find on the About Us page.

Nick Jancaitis is an alumnus of Virginia Tech, therefore he bleeds Orange and Maroon and fall is his favorite season. (Winter months are beginning to be his favorite as well with the rise of the success of the VT basketball team of late.) Nick was introduced to tailgating as a freshman and was overwhelmed, but in a good way. He has been hooked ever since and gadgetry and gear-hoarding have become a sixth sense for him. He enjoys a cold brew with his wife and friends before cheering himself hoarse and stumbling back to the tailgate for a solid post-game continuation. Nick may not have enjoyed a lot of experience but he has experienced a lot.

Join me in welcoming Nick to the team. Look for some upcoming articles from Nick shortly.
