It’s Not Beer Pong, It’s Now “Pong Toss”

wii-beer-pong-1.pngWhen will this nation ever get out of the death grip that is political correctness? Apparently not any time soon.

You may remember back in May we discovetred that video game developers were coming up with a version of beer pong to be played on your Nintendo Wii.  Pretty cool, right? Well, apparently the name had to be changed and all references to alcohol ripped out of the game in order to get an “E” rating by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB). The ESRB is basically the governing body that rates video games much like movies get a PG-13 or R rating. According to the ESRB, any reference to alcohol in a game automatically garners an AO (Adults Only) rating. An E rating means everyone can play this game.

Now the game has been watered down (excuse the pun) to depict virtual players tossing ping pong balls into plastic cups.  Gee, I guess the nation’s underage drinking problem can’t be blamed on kids playing a video game anymore. Political correctness wins again!

Play Beer Pong on Nintendo Wii

wii-beer-pong-1.pngYour beer pong game could use a little work. Okay, it pretty much sucks. What if there was a way to sharpen your beer pong skills without exposing your glaring weakness to everyone at the tailgate party? Your prayers have been answered and all you’ll need is a Nintendo Wii.

JV Games, Inc. is the developer of a new beer pong video game slated for the Nintendo Wii platform. Early rumors have it that you can play tournament style beer pong in three classic environments including the basement, the garage and the local bar. What? No tailgate party environment? Beer pong is a tailgating game staple and it is a travesty it is not an option in this game. How cool would it be to have to contend with cross winds or even possible smoke in your eyes from the neighboring grill? I guess the developers aren’t tailgaters or they definitely would have included tailgating in the game.

(A YouTube video of the game in action is after the jump.)
