Back on April 28th, we announced a giveaway of a $50 Home Depot Gift Card to one lucky reader of TailgatingIdeas.com. All readers had to do was visit the Home Depot website, pick out a product they would use their gift card towards, paste the URL of the product in the comments section and they would be entered. There were other ways to earn additional entries by promoting the giveaway on blogs, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Digg and StumbleUpon. Maximum number of total entries one person could earn was 16.
Well, the deadline has passed and the response to this giveaway has been great. 19 different people are eligible to win and with all the extra entries people earned, 66 entries will make up the draw pool. If I were a betting man I would lay odds that Sweet G from TailgatingTimes.com will win it. Of the 66 entries, Sweet G has 14 of them by virtue of blogging about it, hitting it up on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace along with his original comment. The only thing holding him back from hitting the maximum of 16 was he failed to thumb it up on StumblUpon and hit it with a Digg. Next best chance to win is Curt from Gamedayeats.com with 11 entries and closely followed by Marc from tailgatingrecipes.net at nine entries and Michelle from auntiethesis.blogspot.com with seven chances to win.
So how am I going to randomly select a winner while staying fair and showing no bias? Easy. I will be using the “True Random Number Generator” from Random.org. Feel free to go over there and play with the random number generator and see for yourself. You enter in a number range, in our case it will go from 1 to 66, hit the Generate button and voila, your random winner has been selected. I will be using the list of entrants below and the corresponding number is the number that will identify the winner. In order to make it extremely fair, I will video tape the use of the random number generator and post the video on YouTube to prove the giveaway was not fixed in any way. The random drawing will take place at 10 pm pacific time, Wednesday, May 6, 2009. The winner will be notified via email shortly after the random number has been chosen and the winner will be revealed here during tomorrow’s Mid-Week Eye Candy Wrapper.
