Shish kabobs at a tailgate party are always a big hit. The problem with them is the transportation of the skewers and the work it takes to grill them. On your way there you have to make sure they lay flat and are in a hard container or the skewers will poke through your marinade bag. Also, flipping and turning each individual skewer is a pain and requires you to bring along tongs. I recently discovered a new product called Fire Wire Flexible Grilling Skewers that solves both of those problems. Now you can marinate your kabobs in the bag on the skewer for easy transport to the stadium. The best part about Fire Wire? You can leave the tongs at home and turn your kabobs using your bare hands.
I recently had the pleasure to test out Fire Wire Flexible Grilling Skewers. See my video review below.

A few features of Fire Wire you did not see demonstrated in the video:
If you have a round grill, Fire Wire allows you to use every inch of your grilling surface. Straight skewers can’t wrap themselves around the edges of your grill like Fire Wire skewers can. Also, the flexibility of these skewers makes them easy to marinate right in a plastic bag. The ends of Fire Wire skewers are sharp enough to puncture food during preparation but will not poke a hole in a plastic bag. When placing food on the skewers, the stainless steel construction of Fire Wire will not give you splinters in your fingers like wooden skewers have a tendency to do.
Check out the official video the folks at Fire Wire put together.

The added length of these flexible grilling skewers means that one Fire Wire skewer replaces two wooden skewers. Lately I have been coming across tailgating supplies that are environmentally friendly and Fire Wire fits that mold too. Fire Wire is dishwasher safe (always a big plus with my wife) and you can use them over and over again. Wooden skewers are a one-time use and then you have to throw them away. Not the case with Fire Wire. And because they are stainless steel you never have to worry about rust or a metallic taste transferring to your food.
Yet another video, this time a guy tested out Fire Wire using a heat gun on the ends of the skewers.
