We thought they were dead. We even wrote a eulogy years ago commemorating the run and subsequent death of the Margaritaville Tailgating Grill and the Freedom Grill FG-50. Despite its discontinuation, we would get weekly calls and emails asking about this grill and if we still can customize them to team colors and logos. We had to tell people we could no longer find the grills and could not offer customization anymore.
But all that has changed with a recent discovery.
We discovered a small batch of Freedom Grill FG-50s that we can customize. If you are a long time reader of Tailgating Ideas, you may recall we would paint and customize these grills to the exact color and logo of (mostly college football and NFL) teams for a fee. This service sprouted after publishing this video:
Although the video was a step-by-step DIY tutorial, many people asked us to customize a grill for them in their team’s colors and logo. We obliged (for a fee, of course) and customized an estimated 100 grills in a few years time.
But once these grills were no longer being sold and became more and more scarce, we had to cease offering customization. If there is no canvas, Rembrandt can’t paint. No more grills being sold, we were no longer able to customize a grill.
We alluded that we discovered a small stash of these Freedom Grill FG-50s and can now offer customization again. These grills offer the swing arm and the grill itself and will arrive customized in your team’s colors and logo. You can choose any color scheme you prefer. Please find a small sample of previous grills we had customized before the grills became scarce.
The examples above are what we consider to be simple, two color and a logo customized tailgating grills. We can also do some interesting work on grills but as the difficulty rises, so does the price. Here are a few examples of other grills we have done that required more time and expertise to customize.
All grills are uniquely customized to your specifications and color scheme. Kansas City Chiefs fan and want more red than yellow? No problem. Want the swing arm to be two-toned, yellow on top and red on the bottom? No problem. Want the tilt-out condiment tray to look like the state of Maryland’s flag? Well…, it’s not a problem but will take a lot of time and cost you a bunch extra.
If you are interested in getting your own custom tailgate grill before football season starts, we suggest requesting a quote sooner than later. Also, please be sitting down when you open the email with the price quote. Because these grills are in such high demand and there are so few left, the classic supply and demand pricing will come into play. Also, there is a 4-6 week lead time on these grills in order to get them in, customized and shipped to wherever you might be.
