Tailgate Barn T-shirts: Designed By Tailgaters For Tailgaters

October 16, 2008 in Tailgating Gear

Tailgating has a lifestyle and culture all its own. It’s hard to find T-shirts and apparel that are specifically designed around tailgating. Sure there are other T-shirts floating around that promote beer pong and flip cup but hardly do you see T-shirts about tailgating. That last statement was true until I found out about TailgateBarn.com.

The guys at Tailgate Barn were kind enough to send me a sample to check out for myself. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the shirt was a nice weight and thickness and was not too thin or flimsy. I hate shirts that are cheaply made and feel paper thin. These shirts were 100% cotton Fruit of the Loom shirts and fit well. Take a look at what I wore today.

Many of the shirt designs at Tailgate Barn come in a number of NCAA school colors including Iowa, Colorado, Iowa State, Michigan, Mississippi, Northwestern, LSU, Ohio State, Tennessee, UNI and Wisconsin. Of course if you are a fan of a different team not listed, you could fudge it a little and order your design in colors that are similar. A great example is that I tailgate at a lot of San Diego Chargers games. So the guys at Tailgate Barn sent me shirts that are from the Michigan selection because the colors are similar. I am sure fans of the Washington Huskies could order a shirt from the Northwestern selection and no one would know the difference. Fans of the Kansas City Chiefs would be best served shopping for shirts in the Iowa State section. Houston Texans tailgaters could order from the Mississippi area. You get the point.

A lot of the designs are rather clever and are specific to tailgating and traditional tailgating games and activities. Check them out and here are a few examples of the ones I thought were the most clever.

Weekend Wrap #31: Upset Special Edition

September 29, 2008 in Mailbag

news_wrap.jpgPretty crazy week in college and pro football, eh? USC gets handled in Corvalis, Georgia gets owned in their own yard, Dallas gets roughed up by the Redskins and the Bears beat the Eagles on Sunday Night. Great for TV ratings. Not so great for my prediction picks this week. Maybe everyone else tanked it too… By the way, (shameless plug coming) you have less than a week to get your entry in to win a Tailgate Haven T-shirt (size XL). I’ll make it easy on you and link the video so you don’t have to go searching for it. All the info you’ll need is in the second half of the video. This week’s links follow the vid.

SloshSpot’s Guide to NFL Tailgating

September 5, 2008 in Tailgating Ideas

Oakland raiders tailgatersNow that the 2008 NFL season is upon us, the blogoshpere can not resist compiling lists and ranking anything under the sun. Sloshspot enlisted a good friend of mine, Nick Cobb, to rank all 32 NFL teams in regard to the overall tailgating experience. Nick grew up in Alabama and now calls Texas his home. Between those two states you can imagine he has seen a tailgate party or two in his lifetime.  I am sure there will be a few of you reading this that will disagree with his rankings and have your reasons why your team and city deserves to be ranked higher. The top five according to Nick and Sloshspot are:

  1. Kansas City
  2. Green Bay
  3. Buffalo
  4. Philadelphia
  5. Oakland

Read the rest of the rankings and see where your team was ranked at SloshSpot.com.
