From the department of “Shameless Self-Promotion”, comes a few tidbits of news regarding TailgatingIdeas.com.

Right off the bat we would like to let you know that TailgatingIdeas.com has partnered again with Central California radio station KZOZ and the morning team of “Jeff and Jeremy” to offer the Ultimate Tailgating Prize Pack in 2010. Last year’s promotion was a part of the Jeff and Jeremy’s Pigskin Picks contest and the overall winner walked home with some pretty sweet prizes including a BoomCooler, Tailgate Partymate, Tailgator Sunshade, Pub Washers, Sholf, Z-Bench, Taligate Couch among other stuff. A total of 18 to 20 pieces of tailgating gear was included in last year’s prize package.

This year, Pigskin Picks is back and the ultimate tailgating prize package is again the grand prize. But instead of the stuff we gave away last year, this year’s prize package will include cool stuff not included last year. The first item to be added to the prize pool was a Margaritaville Tailgating Grill customized to the winner’s color scheme and preference. You don’t have to live in Central/Coastal California to play PigSkin Picks. If you win, you do have to go there to pick up your stuff. Make sure to listen either on the radio or on the net for the next prize to be added to the prize pool.

Staying with the radio theme, for those living in Central Iowa, you can hear an interview with me on Lazer 103.3 FM at 7:50 AM on September 2, 2010. I’ll be coming on the Moose in the Morning Show and dolling out tailgating tips and ideas to kick off another season of college football. Lazer 103 is located in Des Moines and both Ames and Iowa City can pull in the signal. You know there will be some Iowa Hawkeye and Iowa State Cyclone tailgaters tuning in.

And lastly, we are honored to report that Catherine Sebring, the driving force behind queenofsports.com, included TailgatingIdeas.com in The Queen of Sports Top 10 Sports Blogs list. Sebring was a asked by Blogs.com to submit her Top 10 list of the best sports blogs on the internet. TailgatingIdeas.com was named as one of them. It is quite an honor to be on the list for two reasons. 1) Catherine Sebring knows her sports and has a great blog herself and 2) mentioned TailgatingIdeas.com in the same list as other sports blog juggernauts like Deadspin, The Big Lead and Sports Biz with Darren Rovell. Quite some lofty company to be mentioned in the same list.

So to Catherine Sebring, we say thank you and we hope you keep reading and we hope to not disappoint.

Tailgating Ideas Now A Part Of Sports Blog Net

September 26, 2008 in Tailgating Ideas

So I have been looking into ways of expanding the reach and readership of TailgatingIdeas.com. After all, there a lot of tailgaters out there that could use a little helpful advice to not just tailgate but to tailgate better. (I see them in the parking lots all the time but I can only hand out so many cards as one person.) It was about time I joined a blogging network to help expand my reach and hit more tailgaters on the web. That is why I have chosen to join Sports Blog Net.

Sports Blog Net is currently built on the principal of making all blogs in the network as successful as possible. The network is geared towards sports fans discovering, reading, writing and building the best sports blog network. The goals are to get all the small blogs out to the masses, give new bloggers the ability to get the exposure they are looking for and give sports fans a destination that they want to visit everyday.

I am not sure if TailgatingIdeas.com qualifies as a “small blog” seeing how Google just upped our page rank to a 4 and we pull in abut 2,500 page views a day. Then again, compared to some of the other websites we compete against in the NFL Juice fantasy football League like Deadspin and The Dirty, we might be small potatoes. Who knows, maybe one day we can go all “Ron Burgundy” on someone and pull off this line.

Fantasy & Pick ‘Em Results: NFL Week #3

September 24, 2008 in Tailgating Ideas

Week #3 was back to the same old, same old for predictions and the fantasy football league. In Cuzoogle’s Pigskin Picks Contest, TailgatingIdeas.com finished tied for fifth for the week, going 12-4. Unfortunately that showing was topped by a dog. Yes, a chocolate lab named Bosco from Chocolate Dog Blog went 15-1 and only missed on the Detroit Lions game. So I guess I should consult my two dogs here at home before placing any bets in Vegas next time? Embarrassing. Here are the standings for the season to date after week No. 3.

2. Zoner Sports 34-13

In NFLJuice’s Fantasy Football League I came back to earth and promptly lost to the guys at Deadspin. Gee, like their blog does not get a ton of traffic and is immensely popular as it is. They couldn’t tank it this week and throw little old me, the tailgating guy a bone? Guess not. Oh well. There is always this weekend and Busted Coverage is going down. And I am not talking about going down like their entire site went down today due to a misunderstanding. Here is how it all shook out in week three.
