Don’t Drink & Drive – Even on a Beer Cooler

June 5, 2008 in Tailgating Gear, Tailgating Ideas

Cruzin Cooler 500 Watt Electric Motorized CoolerWe all know that drinking and driving any type of vehicle is dangerous and illegal. Just ask Cedric Benson how he feels about drinking and boating. Now comes news that a Whitehall, N.Y. man was charged with “driving while intoxicated after police pulled him over for swerving and driving on the sidewalk on a Cruizin’ Cooler. Read the entire story from the Glen Falls Post Star.

Leslie J. “Bomber” Marr was stopped riding his Cruzin Cooler with 14 beers still inside. Marr was headed away from the American Legion Post 83 on Memorial Day and refused a breath test when stopped by police. Even though the Cruizin’ Cooler maxes out at 14 MPH, it is considered a motor vehicle under New York state law.

I know there are a lot of tailgaters out there that already have a Cruizin’ Cooler but make sure to be careful when using it. Cruising the parking lot is one thing but make sure to not take it off site. There are a ton of cops in the parking lots at tailgate parties and acting like a jackass on one of these might give you the same fate as Mr. Marr.

The 14 M.P.H. Cooler The 14 M.P.H. Cooler – This is the only ridable, three-wheeled cooler with a 500-watt electric motor that propels the unit up to 14 mph, and it has a fully insulated bin that accommodates up to 24 12-oz. beverage cans and 8 lbs. of ice, allowing you to transport chilled food or beverages up to 15 miles on a single charge. The enclosed frame is built from durable yet lightweight aircraft aluminum, and the unit has a chain drive, disc brake, and variable-throttle control, ensuring speeds and handling that are similar to a golf cart’s maneuverability. A cup holder is located between the driver’s knees, and it opens to allow access to beverages stored in the cooler while driving. The handlebars have a throttle and a brake lever for confident stops, starts, and acceleration, while the pneumatic tires provide traction on gravel, pavement, or lawns. The handlebars and foot rests remove for transport in the trunk of a car. Includes rechargeable battery and AC adapter. Supports up to 300 lbs. 27 1/2″ L x 17 1/3″ W x 18″ H. (74 lbs.)
