Arkansas Tailgating Grill

September 1, 2011 in Featured, Tailgating Gear

The college football season officially kicked off this evening with a handful of games being played. Of course with the brand new season means tailgaters are chomping at the bit to get out in the tailgating lots and shake off the rust that has been collecting for eight months. Some tailgaters will be breaking out new gear and tailgating toys this weekend as well.

For example, this Arkansas Tailgating Grill will be making it’s debut this Saturday when the Hogs take on Missouri State in Fayetteville, Ark. One of our readers had us customize a Margaritaville Tailgating Grill for him, transforming it to Arkansas Razorbacks colors and theme. Here are some photos we snapped before shipping it off to Arkansas.

2011 Spring College Football Game Schedules

April 3, 2011 in Featured

Georgia helmetsAlthough veteran tailgaters will take the opportunity to tailgate just about any event, many are still stuck in the mindset that “football = tailgating”. This is true no matter if you are a fan of the NFL or college football or both. While many of us have mothballed the grills, tents, chairs, coolers and the rest of our tailgating gear for the winter, college football programs have already started spring drills.

Most college football teams culminate spring practice with an intrasquad game played inside the team’s stadium and inviting the public to come and watch. Many fans seize this opportunity to tailgate after months of doing nothing.

In the interest of those fans that may not know when their team’s spring game is scheduled, here is a run down of each team’s spring game date. Start times vary depending on the team so check your local team’s website for more info. But at least you’ll know when the game is and how far in advance you need to start planning and packing.

Cotton Bowl 2011 Gallery

January 7, 2011 in Uncategorized

We’re already into January and that means the NCAA Football Bowl season is almost coming to a close. The folks at Cooper Tire ran a promotion this season called the Ultimate Bowl Tour where one lucky football fan along with three guests could win tickets and the VIP treatment to see five of the biggest college football bowl games. James Latham of Tishomingo, Oklahoma won the giveaway and has been wined and dined all over the country starting on New Year’s Day in Pasadena to see the Rose Bowl. He then went to Miami to see the Orange Bowl, New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl and today was in Dallas for the Cotton Bowl. The trip rounds out with a stop in Arizona to catch the BCS Championship game between Auburn and Oregon.

The folks at Cooper Tire tagging along on for this tour have been documenting the trip with photos and videos. We asked them if they could share some of the tailgating action with us to pass along to our readers so they can live vicariously through this amazing experience.

Below is a quick gallery of shots taken outside Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas for the Cotton Bowl. On a side note, anyone else find it ironic that the “Cotton Bowl” is not being played inside the Cotton Bowl?
