Weekend Wrap #48: Super Bowl Hype Edition

January 24, 2009 in Mailbag

news_wrap.jpgSo are you ready for this week? By this week I mean the avalanche of Super Bowl hype that the media can possibly cram down our throats. I get it. Larry Fitzgerald is a freak and a great player and a nice guy all in one. Kurt Warner loves Jesus and is playing in another Super Bowl but with a different team. Pittsburgh could become the first NFL franchise to win six Super Bowls. Can we now focus on what is not being talked about? The NFL is still banning tailgating at the Super Bowl. Even though it has been a year since we put together our petition, the principles of the deal still hold true. Or you can just sit by and allow more and more of your personal freedoms be taken away in the name of “national security”. Whatever. On with the links…

Memo to NCAA: Make Beach Volleyball An Official Sport

July 31, 2008 in Tailgating Ideas

Avid tailgaters, especially college students, will tailgate before any type of sporting event. Lacrosse, fencing, swim meets, you name it. College kids aren’t just tailgating before football games. With that in mind I would highly encourage the NCAA to consider adding beach volleyball to the list of sports officially sanctioned. To back up my claim that people will come out and support the sport, I provide visual proof this sport has fan appeal.

The NCAA is considering adding the sport although they are calling it ‘Sand Volleyball’. I don’t care what you call it. I’d definitely break out the grill and cooler and tailgate before any of these matches.
