Holiday Gift Guide 2010 Logo

No matter if you or someone who is on your shopping list is a tailgater, the holiday gift giving  season is officially upon us. That means it’s time for our annual Tailgating Ideas Holiday Gift Guide. Over the years we have discovered a lot of cool tailgating gear and games that would make any tailgater giddy like a kid that got his first bike on Christmas morning.

Use this guide to find the perfect Christmas gift for the tailgater in your life or print out the list, circle your favorites and casually leave it where someone will find it. For good measure you may want to email this post to the Fat Man at the North Pole as well.

So without further delay, here is the 2010 Tailgating Ideas Holiday Gift Guide:

Tow Hitch Stripper Pole bikini girl

Tow Hitch Stripper Pole: The Platinum Stages Hitch Pole is the world’s only dancer pole that can be attached to the ball hitch of any truck or SUV. The Hitch Stage has a 3 foot x 3 foot platform that floats approximately 5 feet from the ground and has approximately 7 feet of usable pole. The Hitch Pole frame and stage is made of the highest quality steel which allows it to support to 200 lbs. The pole is available in genuine high polished stainless steel and genuine high polished brass, it is also available in a 1.75 inch or 2.0 inch diameter. The pole also breaks down into two pieces which allows it to fit in any size car. Depending on the style you prefer the bare bones model starts at $499.00. To get your own Tow Hitch Stripper Pole under the tree, visit Platinum Stages.

Freedom Grill Tailgating Grill Hot Girl

Freedom Grill FG-50: Ever since the Freedom Grill FG-50 was changed and became the Margaritaville Tailgating Grill, many tailgaters lamented the fact they could not longer get one in the “classic” original colors. Recently a small stash of Freedom Grill FG-50s were discovered that are still in the original packaging. These classic models in the original black and gray colors are being sold exclusively through our online tailgating gear store, shop.tailgatingideas.com. These original Freedom Grill FG-50s are in limited quantities and when they are gone they are gone. Freedom Grill is no longer making these grills. When they sell out, if you want a grill that rides on the outside of your vehicle, you’ll be forced to purchase a Margaritaville Tailgating Grill. The Freedom Grill FG-50 can be purchased HERE.

Clear View LPG Tank Tilted

Clear View Propane Tank: These propane tanks are made of translucent composite fiberglass with a protective outer plastic casing. Safer than traditional steel propane tanks, the Clear View Propane Tank will not rust, has a wider base than steel cylinders and when empty, is 50% lighter than old fashioned propane cylinders. The best part is that the composite fiberglass allows you to see the fuel level inside, ensuring you will never run out of gas. By actually seeing how much propane is left in your cylinder you’ll never have to guess how much is left in the tank by picking it up and feeling how much is in there. Never guess again how much propane is in the tank because with a Clear View Propane Tank you’ll be able to see it.

GoPong Beer Pong Table: When it comes to aluminum folding beer pong tables depending on the manufacturer, the price can vary. So why pay more for a portable beer pong table when you can get a GoPong Beer Pong Table for nearly half the price? Paying more doesn’t make sense especially in today’s economy. The GoPong Beer Pong Table is made in the same factory as those other beer pong tables with the same quality and craftsmanship. Without the super fancy design, GoPong tables are able to be priced at a fraction of the cost. So when out tailgating do you want to play beer pong or do you want to pay double but have a bells and whistles design? These tables sell for $74.95 +$25 shipping. That’s less than $100 delivered. All you need to do is wrap it and put it under the Christmas Tree.

RACC Deployed

RACC: Retractable Awning Canopy Company: While tailgating we all need some sort of shelter from the elements whether it be rain or sun. The RACC is a unique alternative to traditional four legged pop-up tents in that it deploys from the roof rack of your car freeing up valuable cargo space for other tailgating gear. The RACC “floats” off the back of your car giving you the freedom to walk around your tailgate without having to dodge a metal pole. It comes in a number of collegiate licensed colors and logo as well. To learn more and to see more photos of the RACC system, join RACC on their Facebook page. To get your own RACC canopy before the holiday season comes to a close, visit raccstore.com.

Tailgate Shootout Parking Lot Wide
Tailgate Shootout: You remember playing paper football back when you were a kid, right? Wish there was a game on the market that took the rules and game play of paper football but made it more realistic and designed for tailgating? Now you can get Tailgate Shootout for that tailgater on your list with a bit of a nostalgia streak.

AnySharp Knife Sharpener

AnySharp Knife Sharpener: No one wants to try to cut a steak with a dull knife. Avoid that problem in the parking lot with this knife sharpener that can stick to a non-porous surface and sharpens knives with three or four pulls. It is lightweight and small enough to fit into your tailgating kit yet rugged enough to withstand numerous tailgating seasons. Depending on the style and model you need for tailgating, the AnySharp ranges in price from $13.99 to $34.95.  For a list of retailers, visit the AnySharp Where To Buy page, select your country and then locate a retailer. For more information on the AnySharp, visit: anysharp.com.

Grillgrate in Use

The GrillGrate: The GrillGrate is a series of 13.75″ x 5.25″ interlocking anodized aluminum panels that create a new cooking surface for your grill. The interlocking design allows you to connect as many of the panels as you would like. The panels are designed in such a way to allow perfect searing but avoid burning of many foods such as lean meats, fruits, vegetables, fish, and even pasta.  This is accomplished by using a raised rail design that focuses most of the grill’s heat through those rails. In addition to this, the rails are spaced in such a way that by using The GrateTool, you can go underneath your food and pick straight up rather than try and jam a spatula underneath.  The bottom of the GrillGrate has spaced elliptical holes for excess liquid to fall through, but also reduces flareups. The areas between those holes allows the fats and juices to sizzle and steam. The steam naturally moves upward and contacts the food, restoring some of the flavor that has leaked out.

Winegard Carryout

Winegard Carryout Portable Satellite Antenna: Being able to watch the early football games while tailgating has become an expected amenity in the parking lots. The drawback has been the amount of time and effort it takes to manually find a satellite signal while tailgating. The Winegard Carryout Portable Satellite Antenna is a self-contained satellite dish that can locate a satellite signal and tailgaters can be channel surfing in five to 10 minutes. To pick up a Winegard Carryout, visit the Camping World online store.

Drill Blender: If your tailgater on your list already has a cordless drill, then the Drill Blender is a great way to make blender drinks in the parking lot. No need to buy an expensive generator and lug your kitchen blender to the stadium. This unique tailgating gadget allows you to use the power of your cordless drill to make margaritas, pina coladas or daiquiris right there in the parking lot. And anytime you can combine power tools to make an alcoholic beverage, all the better. Get the Drill Blender for less than $30.

Koozie Pocket Shirt Red

Koozie Pocket Shirt: When it comes to trying to enjoy some food and beverage while tailgating it would be nice if we all had three arms. One to hold your plate of food, one to hold your beer and the other to hold your fork. So until evolution catches up with us tailgaters and we grow a third arm, we as tailgaters need to come up with innovative ways to carry and hold all three items at once. Now there is the Koozie Pocket Shirt. It’s a polo shirt with a koozie style front pocket that comfortably supports your favorite beverage in a can, 12, 16 and 20 oz bottle or stadium cup while keeping it cool, you dry and your hands free.

PolarHeat Oversized Quad Tailgating Chair: The Blue PolarHeat MCC Oversized Quad Chair is the Mack Daddy of tailgating chairs. This bad boy comes with two removable armrest coolers with a 24 can plus ice capacity. That translates into not having to hop up and down going back and forth between the cooler and your chair. And believe me, with a chair like this, you don’t to leave it unattended because someone will call dibs on it after you get up. The oversized seating area has a pocket that allows for insertion of a replacement hot pack or a reusable cold pack. Think of the replacement hot pack like those hand warmers you’ve seen in camping stores but this one fits under your butt. PolarHeat Quad Chairs are available in four colors, blue, red, green and black for $54.99 with shipping included.

TAILGATOR Gas Powered Blender
: The 24cc two-stroke 2-1/4 hp engine smoothly blends an entire pitcher of drinks in 15 seconds. With a durable 45 oz. lightweight plastic pitcher, the TAILGATOR is built to last longer than you. From Athens to Madison and Berkeley to Blacksburg, you’ll be the center of attention in the parking lot when you fire this bad boy up. Expect to see yourself on the Jumbotron manning your blending beast. Currently priced at $329.99 over at Living Direct.

Pole Caddy: A beverage/utility tray that fits around your umbrella pole or pop-up tent leg that holds cups, bottles and snacks. Creates space where once it was space unused. With over 40 colleges officially licensed, more than likely they will have your school available. And with the Bowl Season about to get underway, there is no better opportunity than now. Check out the wide range of college licensed Pole Caddies to see if your school is one of them.

AnySharp Knife Sharpener

Posted by Dave On October - 25 - 2010

AnySharp Knife SharpenerNo likes a dull knife. After all, the reason why you broke out a knife in the first place is you want to cut something. Dull knives mangle food, tear meat and can really frustrate you. This feeling is especially compounded if you are out tailgating and are stuck with a dull knife without a way to sharpen it. I recently discovered the AnySharp Knife Sharpener and it now has a permanent place in my tailgating kit.

As you can see by the accompanying image, the AnySharp is a knife sharpener that uses a suction bottom to hold it firmly on any smooth surface. The “V” area is where you draw the blade of your knife through it four or five times and you then have a very sharp knife. It’s pretty simple.

The aspects I liked the most about the AnySharp was three things. 1) The AnySharp was compact and fit easily in my tailgating gear box. Anytime a tailgating product is small and compact and doesn’t make me try to figure out what gear I need to take out is always a good thing. 2) The suction bottom of the AnySharp allowed me to stick it to any smooth surface. The glass rear window of my tailgating SUV served as a nice location for the AnySharp seeing how it works vertically as well. 3) The AnySharp actually worked well and after only four passes through the sharpening “V”, my dull tailgating carving knife was like I had just taken it out of the box. Check out this demo video of how to use the AnySharp.

As I mentioned before, the AnySharp has now taken up permanent residence in my tailgating kit to ensure I will always have a sharp knife while out in the tailgate lot. (In the interest of full disclosure, this product sample was sent to me free of charge.) Even though the AnySharp was sent to me for free, I would have probably bought one of my own. Before the football season started I had a few items that I wanted to replace in my tailgating gear. My BBQ tools set was one of them mainly because my carving knife had become dull. The main carving knife had become so dull that I was resorting to use the smaller steak knives to cut up carne asada or tri tip steaks. That’s weak sauce in my book and I expect better than to have to resort to that.

Now that I have an AnySharp, I don’t have to get a new BBQ tools kit just because the big knife in there has become dull. I mentioned early how small and compact the AnySharp is and how it fits easily into my gear box. Take a look at the comparison diagram below to see how much space you will save if you add an AnySharp to your tailgating kit.

Depending on the style and model you need for tailgating, the AnySharp ranges in price from $13.99 to $34.95.  For a list of retailers, visit the AnySharp Where To Buy page, select your country and then locate a retailer. While you are there, they also have a recipes section called the Recipe Club. AnySharp is also on the social media front with a presence on Facebook, Twitter and have their own YouTube channel.
