Orange Wedge Jell-O Shots

Posted by Dave On February - 17 - 2008

Orange Wedge Jell-O ShotsWe’ve all been to a tailgate party where someone breaks out the Jell-O shots. And yes, that person usually becomes one of the more popular people there. Here is a new way you can serve Jell-O shots without using those little plastic containers or Dixie cups. Now you can serve Jell-O shots at a tailgate party using orange wedges to hold the Jell-O.

Orange Wedge Jell-O Shots
What you’ll need:
2 oranges
1 package orange flavored Jell-O
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup Vodka

Directions:
1. Slice oranges in half. Using a spoon, scoop out all the flesh and divider pith. Put aside for later use.
2. In a bowl, mix Jell-O and boiling water using a wire whisk. When all of the Jell-O has dissolved, add vodka and mix thoroughly.
3. Pour liquid Jell-O into orange halves. Cover with plastic cling wrap and refrigerate for approximately 4 hours, preferably overnight.
4. Once Jell-O is firm, slice each half into 3 wedges and serve.

Makes 12 Jell-O shots.

If you don’t like orange-flavored Jell-O, here are other Jell-O shot recipes you may like at your next tailgate party.

Margarita Jell-O Shots

Two cups (16 oz) boiling water
6 oz tequila

Jello shotsDirections:
1. Empty Jell-O packet into a large bowl or container
2. Add boiling water to bowl. Whisk together until fully dissolved.

Here’s a hint to spare the little fleshy piece of your mouth that connects your tongue to your jaw…unless you want to look like Gene Simmons.

Before making jello shots in those little plastic condiment cups, dust them with a light coating of regular Pam (sans the butter flavor or olive oil). Hold the can up about 12 inches away from the cups before you pour in the mix. The jelled shot will slip right out and there’s no digging or leaving prescious jello in the cup. This does not change the taste, texture, or consistency at all. It works perfect and you will be a hero!
