Ole Miss Chooses Academics Over Tailgating

Posted by Foster On April - 14 - 2010

In a move that surprised many, Ole Miss decided to choose academics over tailgating.  Separately and possibly equally as surprising, the University decided to keep tailgating free of charge.

How many Rebels does it take to make these kind of tough decisions?  A 60 person committee came up with the new proposal that now prohibits tailgate set-ups of any kind prior to 10 pm on Friday night.  Apparently too many students were missing classes on Friday to help set up tailgates at the Grove.  Some over achievers in Oxford may have missed classes on Wednesday and Thursday too–when one considers the size of the Rebel tailgate nation.

In discussing the new policy Ole Miss wrote that they “want to preserve [the] campus for its core mission of academics.”
