Featured Gear Friday: Tailgate HotBag

tailgate_hotbag_side-photo.jpgSince starting this tailgating blog back in 2007, we have tested, tried and demonstrated a lot of tailgating gear and written a lot of tailgating product reviews. Some good and some bad. But because we are a blog, a great product we discovered two years ago may be lost in the tons of posts we have published after discovering it. Maybe you are a new reader and haven’t had the time to pour through every single post we have done in the past three years. So in order to help out the tailgaters that might not have read about some of these cool tailgating products, we will be doing a weekly feature on products we reviewed a while ago. We call it Featured Gear Friday and this week’s product is the Tailgate Hotbag.

We discovered the Tailgate Hotbag back in 2008 and thought it was a great way to transport and keep hot those foods that normally get prepared at home and are brought to the tailgate party. Not everything can be prepared on a grill and there are those foods that need to stay hot in order to prevent bacteria and foodborne illness from ruining your day. The Tailgate HotBag does just that.

We’ve all seen those insulated carriers that pizza delivery guys show up at your door with. Those only keep the pizza warm and act like a blanket. Think of the Tailgate HotBag like those pizza blankets on steroids. The Tailgate HotBag has an internal heating unit that is powered by your cigarette lighter outlet and can maintain temperatures up to 170 degrees for as long as you like.

With a Tailgate HotBag, foods that did not go on a grill like enchiladas, casseroles, nacho dips, etc. can now come to the tailgate party. Just take them right out of the oven, slip them into the Tailgate Hotbag, plug it into your car power outlet and drive to the game. The food will stay just as warm inside the Tailgate HotBag as it did when it came out of the oven.

The Tailgate Hotbag comes in three different models all designed to fit your tailgating needs. (Click on the images for a closer look.)

tghb-fs-open.jpgTailgate Hotbag with Mesh Pockets: Ideal for tailgaters. Simply plug the supplied 6″ power cord into any 12v outlet and the Electric Tailgate Hotbag heats to 165-170 degrees to keep food hot and safe from the time it leaves the oven until it’s ready serve, even if the party is hours away. The Mesh Pocket Electric Tailgate Hotbags is made of 1000 Denier nylon, is heavily insulated and has independent thermostat controlled heating elements in the top and bottom. Inside it’s 14″w X 10″d X 11″h, plenty of room for an entire meal with a rigid bottom and a zippered top to keep the heat in. The new Mesh Pocket bag has a convenient shoulder carrying strap, top handles and mesh pockets around the sides for condiments, napkins or beverages.

tailgate_hotbag_side-photo.jpgTailgate Hotbag – Side Loading: Keeps flat dishes like casseroles, hot dips, wings or spreads oven-hot from the time they leave the stove until they’re served, even if it’s hundreds of miles away. Plug the supplied 6″ power cord into any 12v outlet and the Electric Tailgate Hotbag heats to 165-170 degrees to keep food hot and safe. The Side Loading Electric Tailgate Hotbag is made of 1000 Denier nylon, is heavily insulated and has heating elements in the top and bottom for even consistent heat. The bag is 18″w X 18″d X 5.5″h, with a Velcro flap to keep the heat in and has top handles for easy carrying.

tailgate_hotbag_medium.jpgTailgate Hotbag- Large Side Loading: Here’s a way to keep enough food for the whole gang oven hot until it’s ready to be served at the party. This bag is best for foods that are lighter weight and can be stacked like subs, sandwiches or pizzas. The supplied 6″ power cord plugs into any 12v outlet to keep the Electric Tailgate Hotbag at 165-170 degrees to keep subs and pizzas oven hot. The Large Side Loading Electric Tailgate Hotbag is also made of 1000 Denier nylon, is heavily insulated and has heating elements in the top and bottom for even consistent heat.
