It’s been almost two months since the Port-o-Pong beer pong tables have not been on back order. Summer tailgating is great because not only does daylight savings allow for prolonged tailgating but the warm temperatures means the tailgating babes are wearing more revealing clothing. Playing beer pong while summer tailgating is not quite as awesome because by the time you get to your final cup, the beer has been sitting out in the open air for a while. I recently discovered a product called the N-Ice Rack that is a freezable rack in which you place your beer pong cups. The purpose of the N-Ice Rack is two fold. First and foremost, it keeps your beer pong cups on a block of ice while playing. • Test was conducted on a Mid-July day in Southern California.
• Outside air temperature was 96 degrees.
• After pouring the beers, (10 inside the N-Ice Rack and one outside) in just 15 minutes the beer sitting out had reached 75 degrees. The Beer in the N-Ice Rack was 46 degrees.
• After 45 minutes, the beer outside was 87 degrees and the N-Ice Rack beer was 47 degrees.
• I drank both beers to make sure the thermometers were not misreading the temperatures. In fact the thermometers were spot on with their readings and I nearly gagged on the warm beer.

An extra added benefit for tailgaters is that the N-Ice Rack can double as a cooling device inside your cooler while you are on your way to the stadium. That’s translates into less ice you have to buy from the liquor store.

So you are the master flip cup player. Your tailgating crew can out flip any of the weak ass pretenders in the parking lot. Are you tired of schooling everyone and not having any real flip cup competition? Then it is time for you to gather up five other players, scrounge up $180 between the six of you and head to New York. That’s because in October Flip Cup Guys will sanction the inaugural World’s Largest Flip Cup Tournament (WLFCT).

Flip Cup Guys, the nation’s largest organizer of flip cup tournaments, is putting this thing on and it is limited to a 64-team field. Think March Madness but with less sprained ankles and more swollen livers. There are no qualifying tournaments to breeze through to make it to the WLFCT. All you need is the $30 per team member entry fees, six players, a larger than normal alcohol tolerance and an expert skill to flip plastic cups. Maybe you suck at flip cup and just want to watch? No sweat. The venue hosting the WLFCT is the M1-5 Bar and Lounge in New York City. Plenty of space for not only the competitors but for spectators to take in the drinking and flipping action. Spectators pay $25 and will enjoy an open beer bar for the length of the tournament. With 65 matches scheduled to complete the tournament, I think I could easily drink more than my fair share of $25 worth of beer.

Tournament kicks off at 1 pm on October 11, 2008 in New York City. (The M1-5 Bar and Lounge is located between Broadway and Church Street in NYC.) Needless to say, you need to be of legal drinking age to participate but of course, you wouldn’t know how to play flip cup unless you were 21, right? Riiiiiiight!

About a week ago I received an email from Adam’s Balls informing me they would like to send me a few product samples. Beer pong while tailgating is fun. We know this. But what about some of the inherent hazards of beer pong like not knowing how much beer is in your opponents’ cups, tipped and spilled cups, wasted beer or the amount of garbage a game of beer pong can create? What if there was a simple way to ensure all cups were filled to the same level, reduce the amount of spills and be environmentally friendly all with one minor change? What if the change was as simple as changing the type of cups you use? Would you do it? I’m no Ed Begley, Jr., but of course you would.

Back in late April I told you about Pong University and how they offer custom printed beer pong balls.
