We here at TailgatingIdeas.com take pride in the fact that our writing staff continues to grow. We welcome diverse opinions and backgrounds to bring a broad range of tailgating ideas to all of our readers. One such aspect of tailgating we all can relate to is the consumption of beer while tailgating. But instead of bringing in some stuffy, full-of-himself beer snob that drinks with his pinky out, we have been fortunate to have Mike “The Beer Guy” join our writing staff. Mike will provide beer reviews periodically and will review strictly from a tailgating point of view. He wrote a quick introduction on himself and his approach to reviewing beers.

Let me get right to it folks. I’m not a writer, a poet, or a guy trying to get you to buy anything. I’m just a guy that loves beer and loves to tailgate.  I am 100 percent honest when I say I love the tailgate party a hell of a lot more than the actual game most of the time. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve had so much fun tailgating before a baseball game that we never ended up making inside the stadium. That moment was made possible by three things: great friends, good weather and BEER!  As far as the weather and the friends part, you’re on your own. What I can help you out with is the beer. (No, I’m not going to buy your beer for you either.) What I will do is help you expand your beer drinking horizons, so to speak.

Have you ever stood in front of a monster beer aisle and gazed at all the choices only to grab the same old brand time and time again? My goal is to help you periodically break away from your everyday selection and sample some wonderful new beers. Each future article will include a new beer selection and a review. The reviews will be less formal than the standard beer tasting criteria that the “professionals” use. It will be geared more towards the parking lot rather than the tavern. Since I live in California, my selections will be limited to local brewers, items that can be purchased locally and nationally or beer that is sent to tailgatingideas.com to be sampled and reviewed.  Please feel free to write in and suggest a beer to be reviewed or leave a comment on any beer that has been previously reviewed.

My first review will be of Tailgate Beer’s (sounds like a natural fit for the first review out of the gate) new brew, Jay’s Blacktop Blonde.
